The Nephilim Pt. 4: On The Earth Before and After The Flood

The Nephilim are one of the most discussed beings in the Bible. They almost seem to appear out of nowhere, causing much speculation on their origins from both believers and nonbelievers. Though the popular belief is that the Nephilim were the offspring of angels and women, the Bible describes a much different origin. The Nephilim were on the earth in those days and after those days. They were on the earth because they originally came from under the earth. If they came from under the earth, how did they get on the earth? The Nephilim

The Biblical Account of the Nephilim

The Nephilim On The Earth Before The Flood

1 When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.

Genesis 6:1-4

The Nephilim On The Earth After The Flood

30 But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it.” 31 Then the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are.” 32 So they brought to the people of Israel a bad report of the land that they had spied out, saying, “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people that we saw in it are of great height. 33 And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.”

The Nephilim Pt. 3: The Origin of The Nephilim

The Nephilim are a mysterious group of giant beings in Scripture. They seem to just appear on the scene out of nowhere. Because of this, where they came from is often debated and argued throughout the Church and even in the world. In our previous videos, we explained that the belief that the Nephilim (the giants) came from the Sons of God (angels) and the daughters of men (human women) procreating together isn’t in the Bible. If giants didn’t come from angels and human women, then where did the Nephilim come from? The Nephilim

The Origin of The Nephilim (The Giants)

1 When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.

Genesis 6:1-4

25 At the end of forty days they returned from spying out the land. 26 And they came to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation of the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh. They brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. 27 And they told him, “We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 28 However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there. 29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the Negeb. The Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the hill country. And the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and along the Jordan.”

The Four Angels Under The Euphrates River Pt. 1: Who Are They?

There’s a lot of talk recently about the Euphrates River. Many believe that these are current signs of several end times prophecies, but which prophecies in specific? There are several prophecies of angels throughout Scripture. One prophecy, in particular, tells of the release of four ominous angels held at the Euphrates River. Who are these angels? Are they the angels of Jude 6 and 2 Peter 2:4? When will they be released? And why does this matter to the Church? The Four Angels Under The Euphrates River

Who Are They?

13 Then the sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar before God, 14 saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour, the day, the month, and the year, were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 The number of mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand; I heard their number. 17 And this is how I saw the horses in my vision and those who rode them: they wore breastplates the color of fire and of sapphire and of sulfur, and the heads of the horses were like lions’ heads, and fire and smoke and sulfur came out of their mouths. 18 By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed, by the fire and smoke and sulfur coming out of their mouths. 19 For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails, for their tails are like serpents with heads, and by means of them they wound.
20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands nor give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk, 21 nor did they repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.

The gods Pt. 1: Are Other gods Real?

Throughout the world, there are approximately 4,200 religions. There are thousands of deities in Hinduism alone. gods (deities) in the Bible

The Old Testament

11 In this manner you shall eat it: with your belt fastened, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover. 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord. 13 The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.

Exodus 12:11-13

16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn. 17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. 18 He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing.

Deuteronomy 10:16-18

The New Testament

24 No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve [Yahweh] and [Mammon].

Matthew 6:24

Therefore, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that “an idol has no real existence,” and that “there is no God but one.” For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth—as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”—

1 Corinthians 8:4-5

The Bible is filled with the story after story of the deities of old. They are all throughout our Bible. Why? Because they really exist. They really have power. They are real. They aren’t a fantasy or a fairy tale. They aren’t even mythology, as we see them throughout our Bible. So, no, Christians who take the Bible as the unchanged literal Word of our LORD and believe all that is in it are not atheists. They acknowledge that these other religions have power and have a spiritual hand guiding their beliefs. Even though they believe these things, the difference between them and those who practice these religions is that the Christian only worships one. The Alpha and the Omega. The King of kings and LORD of lords. The Beginning and the End. He Who Was, Who Is, And Who Is To Come. Yahweh.

The Sons of God Pt. 1: Who Are They?

Whenever giants or the Nephilim are mentioned, more times than not, the Sons of God are brought up in the same breath. This is all because of what some have named, The Genesis 6 Experiment. Genesis 6:1-4 explains that the Sons of God came down and reproduced with the daughters of man. Many believe that these Sons of God were angels, while others believe they were the righteous sons of Seth. But is it even possible for angels to have sex with women? Can angels even take human form? Who Are The Sons of God?

The Genesis 6 Experiment

1 When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.

Genesis 6:1-4

In Genesis 6, the author doesn’t write that the Sons of God and the daughters of man had sex and conceived the Nephilim. It simply said that during the time the Sons of God were sleeping with the daughters of man, the Nephilim were on the earth as well. Oh, and also they were on the earth after that as well.

The New Testament Account

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into [Tartarus] and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment; if He did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; if by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes He condemned them to extinction, making them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if He rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked (for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard); then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment, 10 and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority.

2 Peter 2:4-10

Peter explains that there are angels who sinned and are now still in chains of gloomy darkness in Tartarus, until Judgment Day. These angels are the same beings as the Sons of God recorded in Genesis 6:1-4.

The Nephilim Pt. 1: The Sons of God and The Nephilim

Genesis 6 describes an incident between mankind and celestial beings that we have called the first incursion. The Bible records that the Sons of God had children with the daughters of man; it then goes on to explain that the Nephilim were on the earth in those days and after. The Sons of God and The Nephilim

The Nephilim (giants) didn’t come from the Sons of God (angels) and women because they were on the earth before the flood and long after the flood.

Satan and Lucifer

Satan and Lucifer are two different beings. Everything about Lucifer and Satan is different, including what type of being they are. Satan is a Beast of the Field, while Lucifer is a star-like celestial being.

Satan

1b Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.

Genesis 3:1b

Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

Summary

Lucifer is stronger than Satan for many reasons, but one main reason. Lucifer is an angel, while Satan is a Glorious One. Angels are stronger than the Glorious Ones because they have to fight off territorial spirits in order to bring messages between the realms.

10 and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority. Bold and willful, they do not tremble as they blaspheme the glorious ones, 11 whereas angels, though greater in might and power, do not pronounce a blasphemous judgment against them before the Lord.

Why Did The Angel Call Peter By Name?

As Christians, the Resurrection of Jesus is one of our most important celebrations. We rejoice for our King did not stay dead. He rose on the third day. Now, when He rose, His disciples, including Peter and John, didn’t know. In fact, no one knew. They all had to be told.

Mary Magdalene, Mary the Mother of James (The mother of Jesus), and Salome (the mother of the sons of Zebedee, James and John) went out early the morning of the Resurrection (Resurrection Sunday) to the tomb of Jesus to anoint Him with oils. But when they got there, the stone was rolled away, and Jesus wasn’t in the tomb.

Instead, an angel, who was there, told them to go tell Jesus’ disciples and Peter that Jesus has risen and will meet them at Galilee as He had prophesied. Which begs the question, why did this angel call Peter by name? Why did he single Peter out? The Angel Singles Out Peter

1 When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint Him. And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?”

And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large. And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples and Peter that He is going before you to Galilee. There you will see Him, just as He told you.”

Mark 16:1-7

Jesus Asks Peter, ‘Do You Love Me?’

15 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” 16 He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to Him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to Him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.”

More on Angels In The Bible

Definition

Angel really only means messenger. This is why Jesus is referred to as the Angel of The LORD, as well as Gabriel, Michael, John the Baptist, and all priests.

Hebrew
Greek

Named Celestial Angels

Gabriel

15 When I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I sought to understand it. And behold, there stood before me one having the appearance of a man. 16 And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of the Ulai, and it called, “Gabriel, make this man understand the vision.” 17 So he came near where I stood. And when he came, I was frightened and fell on my face. But he said to me, “Understand, O son of man, that the vision is for the time of the end.”

Daniel 8:15-17

18 And Zechariah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.” 19 And the angel answered him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news. 20 And behold, you will be silent and unable to speak until the day that these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time.”

Luke 1:18-20
Michael

12 Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. 13 The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, 14 and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come.”

Daniel 10:12-14

Yet in like manner these people also, relying on their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, and blaspheme the glorious ones. But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.” 10 But these people blaspheme all that they do not understand, and they are destroyed by all that they, like unreasoning animals, understand instinctively.

Jude 1:8-10
Abaddon/Apollyon

11 They have as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit. His name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek he is called Apollyon.

Revelation 9:11

Named Earthly Angels

John The Baptist

As they went away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses. What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 10 This is he of whom it is written,
‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’”

Matthew 11:7-10
Paul

13 You know it was because of a bodily ailment that I preached the gospel to you at first, 14 and though my condition was a trial to you, you did not scorn or despise me, but received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus.

Galatians 4:13-14

Unnamed Celestial Angels

1 The two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them and bowed himself with his face to the earth and said, “My lords, please turn aside to your servant’s house and spend the night and wash your feet. Then you may rise up early and go on your way.” They said, “No; we will spend the night in the town square.” But he pressed them strongly; so they turned aside to him and entered his house. And he made them a feast and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

Genesis 19:1-3

49 He let loose on them his burning anger, wrath, indignation, and distress, a company of destroying angels.

Psalms 78:49

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Matthew 24:29-31

And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God, but the one who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God.

Luke 12:8-9

Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.

Revelation 12:7-8

Unnamed Earthly Angels

22 So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and behold, it was hidden in his tent with the silver underneath. 23 And they took them out of the tent and brought them to Joshua and to all the people of Israel. And they laid them down before the Lord.

Joshua 7:22-23

24 Gideon sent messengers throughout all the hill country of Ephraim, saying, “Come down against the Midianites and capture the waters against them, as far as Beth-barah, and also the Jordan.” So all the men of Ephraim were called out, and they captured the waters as far as Beth-barah, and also the Jordan.

Judges 7:24

For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts. But you have turned aside from the way. You have caused many to stumble by your instruction. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the Lord of hosts, and so I make you despised and abased before all the people, inasmuch as you do not keep my ways but show partiality in your instruction.

Malachi 2:7-9

22 And they said, “Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, who is well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and to hear what you have to say.”

Acts 10:22

24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.
