Resettling the Settled

Over the years, our society has evolved culturally. Things that were once unheard of have become normalized today. Even the Law has evolved, if you will, into the New and better Covenant. So, does that leave wiggle room for all that our culture has embraced? Does the Bible and the things of God evolve with our culture? Or do some things just not change for us? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he opens our eyes to the Truth behind the argument to be seemingly destroying the Church today in his message, Resettling the Settled.

Resettling the Settled

Sin in the Bible

Many people question what sin is in the Bible. They even ask if sin is actually a real thing in the Scripture or if it’s based on each person’s conscience. So, what is sin?

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21

But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.

Revelation 21:8

Many believe that sin is simply strictly sexual immorality or murder or idolatry, but they overlook the fact that Jesus said that the cowardly (those who are fearful), as well as the faithless (those who do not believe), and the sorcerer (those who are into witchcraft) all have their portion in the Lake of Fire (Hell). So many times we get caught up resettling the settled, that we can’t move into the deeper things of Scripture.

Sin in The Law

Sin even goes as far as the time of Moses. From the act of abortion to adultery to the LGBT, there is a definite definition of sin in the Law.

20 And you shall not lie sexually with your neighbor’s wife and so make yourself unclean with her. 21 You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord. 22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. 23 And you shall not lie with any animal and so make yourself unclean with it, neither shall any woman give herself to an animal to lie with it: it is perversion. 24 Do not make yourselves unclean by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am driving out before you have become unclean, 25 and the land became unclean, so that I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.

Leviticus 18:20-25
